The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of the computer that executes all processes and delivers output. One of the major components of the CPU is a fan that makes sure that all the processes are executing smoothly and the PC is working properly without compromising efficiency.
As, the fan of the CPU is one of the key components, so good control over it allows optimizing work processes. The CPU fans move at variable speeds depending upon the task performed. i.e. Under resource-intensive tasks like gaming, video editing, graphics designing, etc., your PC becomes hot. So while using a PC, being able to control the fan speed keeps the system cool and provides you a heat-free and smooth user experience.
In most cases, the computer starts working smoothly and efficiently by changing the fan speed, and the most preferable method of adjusting fan speed is through BIOS. This method is recommended, but it may not always work.
So, what now…? Well, there are several other methods to adjust the CPU fan speed. Let’s have a look at ‘how to change CPU fan speed without BIOS’.
METHODS TO CHANGE CPU FAN SPEED WITHOUT USING BIOS
Following are the recommended methods if you are having difficulty in increasing or lowering the CPU’s fan speed.
BY USING EXTERNAL FAN CONTROLLERS
External fan controllers assist to customize fan speeds. The external fan controllers allow monitoring of CPU fan speed and CPU temperatures. This is a manual method to increase or decrease your fan speeds.
Having excellent PC fan controllers provides you a good review of your device’s temperatures and fan speeds. By using these controllers, you can enjoy a perfect balance of coolness and work productivity.
A variety of fan controllers are available in the market, but before investing in fan controllers, keep an eye on their aesthetics, controls, pin support, and channels.
BONUS TIP:
Are you interested to purchase a fan controller? Consider ‘Corsair Commander Pro’ or ‘Noctua’ if you want a perfect blend of efficiency, performance, and functionality.
BY USING A FAN CONTROL SOFTWARE
The CPU fan speed is adjustable manually, but it is better to use automatic options to make adjustments. In this regard, fan controlling software will help you. The automatic fan controlling software efficiently monitors the temperature and heat levels and provides statics accordingly. If needed, you can change the fan speed as per your requirements.
This PC fan controlling software is designed to monitor the PC when hot, so when the CPU gets too hot, this software increases fan speeds automatically to bring the system to normal temperatures.
BONUS TIP: Make sure your chosen fan controlling software is compatible with the operating system installed on your PC. ‘SpeedFan’ is a good software to help you in customizing fan speeds.
HOW TO USE ‘FANSPEED’…?
FanSpeed is a widely used software to control CPU fan speeds. This software is highly useful for people who have technical knowledge but if you are a beginner you should use caution because it can damage your hardware.
Here are few directions to use FanSpeed software. Have a look…!
STEP # 1: Download FanSpeed Software
To adjust and monitor your CPU fan speed, download FanSpeed from the official website. After downloading, install the software as per the given instructions.
Start it, and then allow it to scan your PC so that it may get the necessary details. It’ll display the details on the screen including the RPM of the CPU fan along with the list of temperatures of the graphics card, CPU, motherboard, hard disk, etc.
NOTE: At this stage, make sure you are familiar with different labels of this software so that you know their purpose and what they’ll do for you.
STEP # 2: Check Fan Controls
Adjusting fan speed with the software isn’t so easy, it’s a complicated task. It is advisable to use ‘Automatic Fan Speeds’ controls so that your system makes adjustments automatically.
For this purpose, click the ‘Configuration’ button, and click on the ‘advanced’ tab. A drop-down menu will appear on the screen, from it select your motherboard chipset by clicking the ‘Chip’ icon.
Now, click on the ‘PMW’ options and set all the options to ‘Manual’. Tick the check box and then click the ‘Ok’ button.
STEP # 3: Set Up Your Automatic Fan Controls
After clicking the ‘Configure’ button, go to the ‘Speeds’ tab to set the RPM of your fans. After setting it up, click on the ‘Fan Control’ tab and adjust temperatures. Now, save all changes.
After that, you can check whether your changes have any effect or not. Now, finally, click on the ‘ Temperature’ tab so that your CPU fan adjusts the temperatures how the CPU warms up.
NOTE:
Make sure you select the sensor which controls the CPU fan. While checking this sensor, you’ll have the option to set the ‘desired temperatures’ and ‘warning temperature’. Click ‘Ok’ when you are done.
CONCLUSION:
This is how you can adjust the PC temperatures without BIOS. I hope now you have enough understanding to keep your device cool and calm under pressure.
Good Luck!
